Sidste udkald for MEDEA+ ansøgninger

Det pan-europæiske forsknings- og udviklingsprogram indenfor mikro- og nanoelektronik går ind i næste fase (in english).

MEDEA+, the industry-driven pan-European programme for advanced co-operative Research and Development in micro - and nanoelectronics (EUREKA 2365) has announced its final and last call for project proposals opening 15 May, closing 29 August 2007.

Decision on project labelling will be taken on 18 December 2007 following an extensive evaluation and selection process. First project starts are anticipated from January 2008 onwards.

- Considering the pace of the technical evolution in the nanoelectronics domain and the resulting business challenges for Europe’s high tech industry. We have to fully exploit the time-frame awarded to the MEDEA+ programme (2001-2008). This also means that projects started may continue their implementation even after 2008, says Jozef Cornu, Chairman of MEDEA+.

With already 47 ended and 30 still active projects, resulting from the three calls of MEDEA+ phase 1 and the two calls of phase 2, with the involvement of over 380 organisations and, an average of 2500 researchers per year, MEDEA+ has proven to be the leading European programme in micro - and nanoelectronics supported by industry and European governments.

About MEDEA+

MEDEA+ is the industry-initiated pan-European Programmeme for advanced cooperative Research and Development in Microelectronics, set up and labelled within the framework of EUREKA (E! 2365) to ensure Europe’s continued technological and industrial competitiveness in this sector.

MEDEA+ started in January 2001 and focuses on ‘system innovation on silicon’. The central objective of the MEDEA+ programmeme is to stimulate innovation and provide the technology platform that will allow Europe, through its microelectronics and system industry, to move into the Information Age, contributing to the creation of increased employment and economic prosperity.

Running until 2008, with a major review held in 2004, the MEDEA+ program channels private and public funding into microelectronics research & development

The MEDEA+ technology projects are in line with the International Technology Roadmap for Semi-conductors (ITRS). They associate semiconductor manufacturers, their suppliers and the academic world. The applications projects proposed by the system houses and their semiconductor suppliers cover a broad spectrum of market areas and prepare the foundations for market-leading Information and Communication Technology development in Europe.

MEDEA+ projects currently involve about 380 partners from 22 countries with an average contribution of more than 2500 highly qualified engineers each year. MEDEA+ partners include major microelectronics manufacturers, systems houses, SME’s, universities and institutes from across Europe.
